Tokyo alley bar vibes in chicago 👀🇯🇵🍻⤵️ Energetic and trendy underground Japanese bar with izakaya style small plates and Japanese inspired cocktails. The menu combines traditional Japanese flavors with modern culinary twists. Some friends and I tried the: - hamachi collar (nicely grilled, sweet flavor, fish falls apart beautifully) - Uni pasta (uni, rock shrimp, shiso; it was just ok) - Tuna tostada (crispy nori, tuna tartare, avocado, pickled red onion, lime; I get why they used the nori but a real tostada base would’ve been crunchier instead of melting) - Satsumaimo fries (japanese sweet potato fries, miso mayo; def a favorite of mine now) These make your own hand roll dishes are fun to make and eat with the table. The way their plates make them look like jewels in a bowl, so pretty. - Momo jr (spicy octopus, tuna tartar, pickled daikon, nikiri) - Shio koji sake (salmon, avocado yuzu mousse, salmon skin, ikura; I prefer this one over the momo) Overall a cool bar to add to your list! Share it with someone who should take you here 😉 🙋🏻‍♀️ follow @mynameisjoolia for more fun things to do in Chicago
